Instructions:
This
activity involves splitting the group into pairs. One person
initiates movement and the other reflects the movements striving
to provide a perfect mirror image. One possible variation
is to do a Reverse Mirror Image.

Instructions:
Count
off the group silently, (secretly giving them a number), into
smaller teams so that there is an equal number of participants
in each group. Explain to the group that their objective is
to find their other group members by ONLY shaking hands. No
talking is allowed. Let the group know that this can be done
by shaking the hand of another person the appropriate number
of times to represent their number. Once one member of a group
has found another member, they can stick together until the
remainder of their group is located. The first to have all of
their members wins. The facilitator will tell the groups at
the beginning how many members are on their group. |

Instructions:
Create
a platform by wrapping a rope on the floor into a circle. Ask
the entire group to get aboard the platform. As the group succeeds,
shrink the platform and continue this until the group cannot
all fit on the platform. |

Instructions:
One
person is connected into a top rope and asked to climb a selected
route while blindfolded. The group is encouraged to verbally
assist the climber in successfully completing the route.

exercise fosters teamwork and trust among team members. |

●
Instructions:
The
group will be split into 4 smaller teams and will be asked to
take their shoes off and deposit them into the center hoop.
Each team will have their own hoop outside the center forming
the dots on the five side of a dice. Their objective will be
to get all the shoes into their team's hoop.
Only
one person can leave the group at a time and can only retrieve
one shoe at a time; no throwing shoes; teams may not defend
their stockpile of shoes from other teams.

Goals:
This
activity forces the teams to strategize, nurses a healthy, competitive
spirit, and in the end teaches the entire group how practicing
networking and communication can result in higher levels of
efficiency and success. |

Instructions:
Group
is split into teams. Each team is given a list of items (decorative
holds) with points for each item and separate colored tape.
The teams are given a period of time in which to climb throughout
the gym and when they find an item, they put a piece of their
colored tape on it. At the end of the time, the facilitator
will go to each hold and tally up each team's points. The team
with the most points wins.

Goals:
This
activity requires teams to develop a strategy in order to accomplish
the goal in the most time efficient manner possible. |

Instructions:
Group
is split into two teams. Team members must travers across the
wall and place a tennis ball on a cone, next member must retrieve
the cone. Both teams run at the same time and the team that
completes the task first wins. The team with the best two out
of three wins.

Instructions:
This
is a slight variation on the old game "Memory" where
one member goes to the wall and touches a hold, the next person
touches the previous hold and adds on another. this continues
with each member repeating the sequence and adding on another
hold. As someone fails the pattern, they are out. this continues
until there is one winner.

competition developes a healthy competitive spirit as well as
building memory skills. |

Instructions:
Group
is split into teams of four. Teams are instructed to climb up
the wall about two feet holding a string of connected hula hoops
on each arm. The team must progress horizontally (traversing)
the wall over a set route.
●
Goals:
This
activity requires teams to communicate effectively in order
to succeed in the common goal. |

Instructions:
Two
climbers are clipped together by their harnesses, with a short
rope connecting them together. They are asked to climb two routes
adjacent to each other simultaneously. They must complete the
routes together paying special attention to each other's position.

Goals:
Pairs
of team members must rely on thier communication skills as well
as knowledge of each other's strengths and weaknesses in order
to accomplish their goal in this exercise. |

Instructions:
Split
into pairs. The goal here is for both participants to climb
to the top of the wall while trying to keep a beach ball wedged
between them. The only rule is they cannot use their hands or
arms to hold the ball.

Goals:
This
exercise develops teamwork and communication skills as well
as a knowledge of each others strengths and weaknesses. |

Instructions:
The
group will be asked to hold onto a section of climbing rope
with one hand. Without letting go, their objective will be to
recreate a knot the facilitator will demonstrate using a smaller
section of rope.

Goals:
In
this activity, participants are forced to include everyone in
order to achieve the overall goal. Teamwork is mandatory, and
this difficult task requires higher levels of communication
and ingenuity for success. |

Reasoning:
At
climbing gyms our most time consuming and arduous task is rearranging
and maintaining the holds on the walls to meet our member's
needs. In sales, you have to meet quotas but cater with sincerity
to customer's needs during the transaction.
●
Instructions:
In
this exercise, group members will be given resources (holds,
bolts and tools) and given the task of setting a route that
everyone on their team can climb. The facilitator will be the
one responsible for putting holds on and taking holds off the
wall as instructed by the team members.

Goals:
Creativity
and support are stressed along with teamwork. |

Instructions:
Facilitator
distributes "mines", balls, cones, or other objects, throughout
an area of the gym. Participants are paired off and one participant
is blindfolded and led through the minefield by their partner's
audio commands. Event is timed and there is either a penalty
fine for touching a mine or the team is required to start over.

Goals:
This
game focuses on developing trust between teammates and also
emphasizes the need for good communication skills among team
members. |

Instructions:
The
idea is for the group to work together to transport three different
items across the "river". The items in this game are a cougar,
a chicken, and chicken feed. We place one crash pad on either
side of the rope swing and the area between the pads is the
river. Participants must transport each item across the river
using the rope swing.
●
Rules:
The
cougar cannot be left alone with the chicken and the chicken
cannot be left alone with the chicken feed.
Participants
must designate only one person to transfer items across the
river on the rope. That person must transport during the entire
game.
Nobody
may step in the river during the game.
●
Goals:
This
game develops problem solving skills, team building and communications
skills. |

Instructions:
The
participants have to move several objects, "Clients", from one
point to another by passing it among team members strategically
placed on the climbing wall. There will be several holds marked
that the clients must pass over and under.

This
activity creates problem solving skills and requires clear communication
and trust among team members. |

●
Instructions:
There
will be a sturdy table setup on the mats with a line taped off
three feet from either long side of the table. The group must
stand behind the starting line and each member must pass over,
under, and then over the table and end beyond the finish line
without touching the ground. If a member touches the ground,
that member and one member that has already completed the challenge
must start over. Physical assistance is allowed from either
side of the lines and from on top of the table provided no one
on the lines touches the table and no one touches the ground
between the lines or under the table.

This
exercise requires teamwork and problem solving skills in order
to accomplish the goals. |

Instructions:
The
group must transfer a bucket of toxic waste (ping pong balls)
from one area of the gym to another and transfer the waste into
another bucket at the end of the course without spilling any
waste by manipulating the ropes attached to the bucket.

activity appears much easier than it actually is. this activity
requires clear communication and teamwork in order to succeed. |

Instructions:
Have
all participants try and balance on a slack line. They will
begin by starting with one person on the line and others assisting
supporting the balancers while the number of balancers increases.

Cool Down Exercises
|
|
●
Instructions:
The
group will all start on a single platform. The object is for
all the participants to move from one platform to another using
a single plank. The group might fall several times at first
while trying to move around on the platform while maneuvering
the plank, but success will come with practice. |
|
●
Instructions:
The
players will all hold on to a tarp with both hands holding the
tarp level. The tarp has holes randomly placed in it large enough
for a tennis ball to fall through. The tennis ball must begin
on one side and pass to the other side of the tarp without falling
through the holes. |
